What is OrthoMind?
OrthoMind is an online community of Orthopaedic Surgeons, which facilitates the exchange of ideas and insights with colleagues around the world. OrthoMind makes it easy for surgeons to discuss news and research relevant to the specialty of Orthopaedic surgery, and share clinical findings, report unusual events, and get consensus opinions on a variety of topics. OrthoMind allows surgeons to harness and harvest the power of collective intellectual capital.
It is the Collaborative Mind of Orthopaedic Surgeons
The OrthoMind community is delivering highly relevant content in an easy to use format.
OrthoMind is a Knowledge Ecosystem, to improve decision-making and innovation through improved evolutionary networks of collaboration amongst Orthopaedic Surgeons. This is accomplished by enabling self-organization in response to changing environments via algorithms, keywords, phrases, logic, and contextual information/articles. You can engage in private messaging, networking and refer posts of interest to colleagues.
We allow physicians to choose anonymity if they desire, as some of us are more comfortable that way. Nevertheless, as one’s username never changes, you still develop an identity; with rapport, reputation and respect within the community. The trust instilled by your colleagues translates to anonymity with accountability.
We facilitate “early signal detection.” If there is a device malfunction or a movement around an ‘off label’ use, we are likely to detect it first here.
By creating an open 'peering,' global platform for ideological exchange among Orthopaedic Surgeon colleagues, OrthoMind accelerates the shared discovery of emerging trends and new insights on surgical techniques, medical devices, treatments and improved clinic result for patients. Orthopaedic Surgeons around the globe can now access each other privately and collectively, in a safe context, and collaborate in ways that have not been possible previously.
'Posts' are the primary means of collaboration on OrthoMind. The author of a 'post' presents questions, insights, anecdotes, or clinical observations, and may seek input from colleagues. The community shares its insights and opinions by commenting, giving feedback and in some cases, voting on the post. This establishes the standard of true 'peer review' and 'peer production', collectively aggregating, reviewing and disseminating knowledge on the submitted topic.
Orthopaedic Surgeon's access to the community is free online, but access is restricted to Orthopaedic Surgeons (MD and DO).
OrthoMind is not an industry sponsored site. It was literally created de novo by Orthopaedic Surgeons for Orthopaedic Surgeons. We are not web developers, we are practicing orthopaedists, like you. We welcome your feedback on how to make this site better and on what features / functionality YOU would like to see added or improved.
